Delete your ClimbSync account
Last updated: June 2026
ClimbSync is operated by Benjamin Orthner (Vienna, Austria). This page explains how to delete your ClimbSync account and the personal data associated with it, what is removed, and what is retained.
How to delete your account
You can delete your account in either of these ways:
- In the ClimbSync app: open Settings, then Account, then Delete account, and confirm. Your account and associated data are then removed.
- By email: write to contact@climbsync.app from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. We handle these requests manually.
What is deleted
Deleting your account removes the personal data tied to it, including:
- Your account and profile (display name, email address, gender, bio, profile photo, and home area / location)
- Your climbing sessions, plans, RSVPs, and votes
- Your friend connections and any aliases you set
- Contact Discovery matching data, if you used that feature
What is retained, and for how long
- Backups: residual copies in routine backups are removed within approximately 30 days.
- Product analytics events: retained for a limited period (currently up to 90 days), then deleted.
- Billing and purchase history: subscription and purchase records held by our payment providers (RevenueCat, Apple, or Google) are governed by their own retention policies and are not deleted by us. Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription — cancel that in your App Store or Google Play settings.
- Limited records may be retained where required to comply with legal obligations.
Delete only some of your data
You do not have to delete your whole account to remove specific data. In the app you can edit or clear profile fields, delete individual sessions and plans, and turn off Contact Discovery (which removes the related matching data). You can also email contact@climbsync.app to request deletion of specific data.
